PURPOSE:To extinguish fire by turning a knob fitted on a rotary shaft and thereby lowering a wick, and at the same time to extinguish fire instantly by automatically operating a wick- lowering mechanism when a shake occurred, such as an earthquake. CONSTITUTION:When a shake occurred due to an earthquake at the time of normal combustion, weight 45 falls from supporting table 46, and lower piece 52 of operation plate 48 is pulled by string 47, fastened to the lower part of the weight, and thereby the operation plate is turned in the counterclockwise direction. Then, suspension pin 56 is detached from suspension part 51, and movable rod 53 is turned in the counterclockwise direction by the force of spring 58. Suspension pin 56 presses projection 59 downward and resets weight 45 on suspension table. On the other hand, bar 60 is turned in the counterclockwise direction by projection 57, and depression 64 and projection 65 are engaged. As a result, pawl plate 32 is turned in the counterclockwise direction, and its suspension part 33 and teeth part 31 of the gear are disengaged; and at the same time, rotary shaft 6 and transmission shaft 14 turn in the reverse direction, the wick is lowered instantly, and the fire is extinguished.
