The cable tie is formed from a plastic strip and is used to tie bundles of wire together or to a support bracket. The cable tie has a slotted head which accepts the tongue formed at the opposite end of the cable tie, and a locking tongue on the head grips serrations on the tongue. The head of the cable tie has an entry slot with notches cut in the head to form a movable locking tongue to facilitate the introduction of the locking tongue. A starting ramp on the tongue pushes the movable tongue clear of the locking serrations allowing easy insertion. Faster and easier assembly is achieved with reduced risk of breakage of the cable tie.
