摘要
Prodn. of resting spores (A) of Entomophthorales, pathogenic on insect pests, comprises first aerobically fermenting the appropriate hyphae on a fermentation medium contg. C and N sources at pH 6-7 for 2-5 days so as to form spherical, double-walled prespores (B). These are sepd. and thoroughly washed under non-sterile conditions, then mixed with an inert, wet carrier (C) such as clay. The mixt. is matured at 15-25 deg.C so that (B) are converted to spores having wall thickness at least 10% of the spore diam. and usually consisting of a single lipid globule of min. diam. one-third to two-thirds of the spore diam. The (C)-coated spores are then stored at 2-7 deg.C and opt. then formulated with other standard components to give a plant-protection compsn. having high infectious power. Compared with known processes the fermentation time is reduced and there are significantly fewer checks to fermentation caused by contamination. The coated spores can be stored for a long time without loss of germination capacity and can be applied to already infested plants (if spone germination is rapid) or two plants before they are attacked by insects (if germination is slow).
