摘要
The variable speed drive for a machine tool, such as a drill (14), uses an epicyclic gear train functioning as a differential with its satellite wheels driven by separate three phase induction motors. The induction motors are of the pole changing type, one 4/8 poles and the other 2/8 poles, and the drill speed is altered by altering the relative speed of the two induction motors. Two arms (12) are fixed perpendicular to the drill shaft, and each carries a conical planet wheel (10,11). Conical satellite wheels (8,9) run on the drill shaft (13), one above the planet wheel arms and one below. Each satellite wheel has a second spur gear cut on it, and this gear meshes with the pinions (4,5) on the shaft of the two induction motors (2,3).
