Substitution of a grout based on bentonite and cement, a cement milk, a mortar or a concrete for a bentonitic slurry contd. in a cavity is described. The improvement comprises utilising a bentonitic slurry contg. a quantity of lime which corresponds to or slightly exceeds the amt. of lime needed to confer the max. rigidity tothe slurry. The grout is used to fill cavities in the ground for supporting walls to prevent collapse or caving in during e.g. reinforcements, panelling, channel formation etc. in which pockets of incomplete solidity occur. The use of CaO rather than cements of prior art ensures more stable dilling.
