The ship has a screw propeller, with a helical in-flow channel for the propeller on the lower side of the hull. The winding sense of the channel is opposite to that of the propeller. The channel is dimensioned so that the circumferential component of the speed of the water flowing into the propeller circuit is opposite to the direction of moment of the propeller blades during 2/3 of the whole propeller revolution. The ratio between the maximum and minimum values of thrust executed by a single propeller blade, during a complete rotation of the propeller shaft, is therefore smaller than 2, when the ship moves at operational speed. Below the water line, the external surfaces of the hull do not form part of the helical channel, and are a symmetrical about the central ship axis.
