The securities have luminescent originality characteristics in a narrow band which can only be excited in essentially the same narrow wavelength range in which they also emit. In the case of these originality characteristics, the originality signal is therefore superimposed and concealed by the test signal which is stronger by several orders of magnitude. Consequently, the originality of the securities cannot be established using the usual methods and devices for detecting the luminescence. The test device used utilises the decay properties of the luminescence emission for its detection. The originality characteristics can be applied to the paper fabric, the printing inks used, also to mixed fibres or safety threads.
