New post-coital contraceptives for enteral or parenteral admin. contain norgestrel (racemic) or levonorgestrel (D- enantiomer of norgestrel). The new contraceptives avoid the health risks associated with the daily administration of a conventional oral contraceptive, and avoids the side-effects and risks associated with the current post-coital contraceptive method (admin. of 3-5 mg ethynyloestradiol or 30-50 mg diethylstilboestriol for 5 days starting not later than 48 hrs. after intercourse.
