The method is for measuring the temp. of substances, from which very small quantities are to be extracted to be placed into an analyser and heated up, and gives reliable temp. measurement of the substances. The method involves measurement of a temp. dependent electrical parameter at the point on the directly heated sample carrier on which the substance is placed. The sample carrier may be in the form of a thermo-element (4,5,6) with direct electrical heating. The method involves measuring its thermovoltage, possibly used differential amplifiers (13a,13b) and a voltmeter (16). Alternatively, the sample carrier may be a thermocouple whose thermovoltage is measured, or a resistance thermometer, also with direct electrical heating, whose electrical resistance is measured. The method enables the temp. of the sample to be measured during and before the analysis.
