The conical metallic roof is used on buildings of a circular or polygonal plan, comprising a number of identical trapezoidal sheets which extend and reduce in width from the eaves to the apex. The opposite longitudinal edges of each sheet have a simple right angled return flange and a similar but 'U' sectioned flange respectively, the former clipping inside the latter to make the joint. The structure is stiffened by one or more internal ring frames at vertical intervals, the frames being welded to special bracket sections of which a major flange also clips into the inter-sheet joints. The internal edge of the bracket section returns square to join a 'U' section flange to which the rings are welded.
