The spindle head with spindle for the quick-acting shut-off element in the emergency cooling system of a nuclear power station rests on a support head with a threaded hub at the bottom and an internal shoulder on the periphery. A nut on the hub thread urges the support head against a support casing through a set of spring wasbers. Dowels prevent any angular displacement between support head and support casing. This allows some space for dilatation and absorbs the impact of a sudden shut-off. The load is equally distributed over three sets of spring washers.
