The sprues are removed automatically from injection mouldings by a device with a sprue grip which enters the mould and moves in synchronism with the mould tool. One mould tool has a member plus a vertically moving slide with an extraction lever which carries a sprue extractor and pivots about a horizontal axis against spring pressure; a stud has one end above that pivoting axis and the other end is mounted on the other mould tool. Grip enters mould from above and returns along the same path before moving laterally and laying sprue in extractor, grip therefore occupies minimum space inside the mould, grip continues to be effective even when worn.
