The support for the hand of a patient after a wrist fracture is designed to give more freedom than a plaster cast, and extends from the roots of the fingers to a point above the wrist. This support has a wider region (5) which fits around the arm above the wrist, connected by a narrow portion to the upper part (3) which widens out again. This part includes a short sleeve (14) through which the thumb is inserted. This upper part folds around the back and palm of the hand at the roots of the fingers. These two wider portions are secured by straps (10,11) of the multiple hook and eye type, giving a press closure and tear-open action.
