The device in a mobile breath testing arrangement with a gas analysing measurement cell is for quantitative analysis of the breath of a person for defined components, esp. alcohol, enables rapid accurate repeated testing. It is compact, easy to operate, and can be purified with clean air between measurements. The hollow shaft (7) of a radial turbine (6) is pneumatically connected to the measurement cell (1) gas outlet (3). The turbine is mechanically connected to an electrical machine (4) operable as a motor or as a generator. An electronic circuit produces a signal indicating that the generator output parameter rate of change has changed sign. When the machine is operated as a generator its output is fed to an indicator (12) via an integrator (13).
