The door-opening system system is intended especially for rail vehicles driven by linear motors and for which weight is an important consideration. To make such vehicles lighter, the opening devices normally carried by such vehicles are located at the embarkation/disembarkation points. The sliding doors (4) of the vehicle have eyelets that are engaged by hooks (5). The hooks are moved by a motor system (6-8) located beneath the station's platform (1). Alternatively electromagnets may be used to cooperate with metal parts on the doors.
