摘要
Tubes are made via pressing or rolling, followed by drawing to finished size using a lubricating oil. Separate tube lengths are joined together, and are heated via electric resistance or induction to above 600 deg. C. in a continuous process. An oxidising gas, esp. air or air enriched with oxygen, is fed through the heated tube to sweep out the oil vapours. The speed of the gas stream inside the tube is pref. more than two, esp. more than five times the speed of the tube through the furnace, which is pref. heated by resistance. The tail end of a coil of tube on an uncoiler is pref. fixed to the suction end of a pump, while the front end of the coil is fed through furnace. An economic, continuous annealing process is provided where all carbon is removed from the bore of the tube.
