Laser Doppler radar with heterodyne reception - has receiver band filter with Doppler width matching natural environments and frequency corresponding to stationary target
The laser radar is intended for detecting the movement of distant targets in front of the terrain background. The signals for a scanning control device are derised from the Doppler shift of the received signals. A first image scanning is carried out via a receiver band filter with a Doppler width, matching the natural environments, as well as a mean frequency corresponding to stationary targets. The image gaps, resulting from moving targets, are measured and evaluated by a second image scanning. Pref. image points are recognised without a laser radar echo and are indentified. During the second image scanning only a partial section is measured and evaluated, this section possibly containing a locally maximum reflectivity. In order to detect the velocity of the moving target, the mean frequency of the bank filters may be shifted over the entire Doppler range to be evaluated for each scanned image point during the second scanning.
