The system utilises heat dissipated from a power plant incorporating an internal-combustion engine, heaters transmitting high-grade heat from one or more operating media used in the plant to fluid in a user circuit. Using heating devices between the heaters and the user circuit, and contained in the latter, heat from one or more working media providing low-grade heat is transmitted to the circuit. Flow rate and temperature into the user unit can be regulated so that temp. is low on leaving the latter, and part at least of the fluid can be passed through an auxiliary cooler.
