PURPOSE:To contrive the reduction in size of the electromagnetic device and the improvement in the properties of the device by associating the permanent magnet at part or all of a movable iron piece with the electromagnet to apply the rectilinear motion or sector operation thereof owing to attracting and repelling forces thereof. CONSTITUTION:The permanent magnet 2' is mounted at part or all of a movable iron piece 2 of the electromagnetic device to be used in combination with electromagnetic force owing to the electromagnetic coil 3 wound on a yoke 1. This piece 2 is connected through a hinge bearing 7 and an insulator 10 to the contact 5 of the electromagnetic device. When the coil 3 is not energized, the piece 2 is attracted to the yoke 1 by the magnetic force of the manget 2' to make a contact 5 contact with a contact 4. When the coil 3 is energized, there occurs magnetic force for repelling the magnet 2' from the yoke 1, the piece 2 is separated from the yoke 1 to make the contact 5 contact with the contact 6 side. Then, when the coil 3 is further deenergized, the peice 2 is attracted to the yoke 1 so as to return the contact 5 to the original position to improve the property thereof and the reduction in size thereof.
