Compsn. for use in a disseminating appts. comprises 30-70% vol. of a powder with bimodal particle size distribution and a 70-30% vol. of a gelled liq. the powder being insoluble in this gelled liq. The powder may be of 0.01-100 mu particle size. The gelled liq. prevents the powder compacting and blocking the valve in the appts. The powder may be a fire extinguisher, pesticide or medicament. Two ingredients which react may be stored together in the same container in the gel, for example KHCO3 and (NH4)2HPO4 in fire extinguishers.
