Solar energy collector combining greenhouse and concn. effect - comprises parabolic domes concentrating radiation on tubes passing through axes contg. fluid preheated by greenhouse effect
A solar energy collector incorporates parabolic domes which concentrate the solar rays at the axis at the base of the parabolic dome, creating a ring at very high temp. on a tube passing through the axis, so that the temp. of a liq. flowing in the tube is heated by concn. The tube may be in saw-tooth form, passing through the centre of a dome, repassing outside the dome and through the centre of another dome, so that the temp. of the liq. continues to increase. The tubes takes fluid which has been preheated by a layer of tubes side by side connected by inlet and outlet mains. The layer is in a box insulated at the bottom and the sides and with double glazing. To achieve very high temps., a single dome of very large dia. may be used to fabricate a solar furnace or boiler oriented permanently towards the sun.
