Tube support for u=tube heat exchanger - has plates with semicircular edge cut=outs fitting around tubes at position between U=tube bends (br 11.12.79)
The heat exchange has tubes, each in the form of a U having two right-angled bends, mounted in a casing. The tubes are held together using mounting plates which have semicircular cut-outs in their sides to fit, together with an adjacent plate, closely around the tubes, the adjacent plates being held together by means of a line of welding along the join between the plates when butted edge-to-edge at the free sides of the plates. The plates are fixed around the tubes at a position between the two bends in each. The tubes are additionally held in the casing by support grills, but these are along the arms of the U. Both the inner and the outer tubes are fixed against vibration, while the mounting plates offer a low resistance to flow of the fluid flowing around the outside of the tubes, within the casing.
