The sheet is pulled by winding on to a motorised core roller which drags the surface to be cleaned across the bristles of a mat made up of coconut fibre or the like. The mat is removably secured to the top of a work table fixed on a pedestal which also carries the core roller and drive assembly. The work table is pref. inclined, e.g. at about 25 degrees to horizontal, so that the working surface of the mat slopes upwards towards the roller and is approx. tangential to the roller circumference. The dia. of the core roller is pref. 20-45 (pref. 30-35 mm). Typically the roller is driven at about 115 r.p.m., the pref. linear speed of brushing being between 9-14 m/min. Used for dry brush cleaning sheets, belts etc. as they are wound into reels for storage. In partic. for cleaning belts used to support bread dough lumps in bakery proving cupboards. System facilitates frequent, regular brushing to eliminate the need for washing except at infrequent intervals.
