The circuit has an impedance-matching input stage, an inverting amplifier and an impedance-matching output stage. A level circuit holds the voltage of the black level to the level of a reference voltage. A suppressor suppresses the signal during line flyback. The level circuit and the suppressor use the same single reference voltage source. A sample comparator compares the output voltage from the circuit with the reference and its impedance is small during operation but high out of operation. During line flyback the impedance matching resistor of the luminance delay line is short circuited to protect it against interference.
