The black level control has a capacitor (2) transferring the video signal (picture + blanking) signal) to a transistor emiter. A blanking signal (A) is applied to the transistor's base and turns it off during the blanking period. The blanking signal is likewide applied via a capacitor (7) to the transistor base. The transistor base is connected via a diode (8) to a constant potential (9) to set the black level voltage in the video signal. A trigger (4) is connected to the transistor emitter on the output side in order to remove signal levels below the set black level voltage (UK) in the video signal. The advantage lies in few components and incorrecting the unwanted dark current component in the video signal.
