The breathing tube for carrying out experiments on small living animals consists of a cylinder which fits around the body of the animal. This is inserted in the discharge tube of a machine which emits smoke which the animal breathes. The securing cylinder is made in two halves connected by a longitudinal hinge with two pairs of securing jaws extending inwards from one half shell, one pair being at each end. Between the jaws of each pair is secured a cushioning layer. The outside of this shell includes a groove for locking the cylinder into the tube of the machine.
