The voltage to be converted and a reference voltage are applied to the converter inputs, and a digital-analogue conversion is also carried out which generates the reference voltages from the reference values. Depending on the polarity of the difference voltage at the comparator output, a new reference value is applied. The reference values (Vv1-VvN) are logarithmically spaced. The digital-analogue converter (DA) works linearly and the conversion is carried out in consecutive steps, so that the comparator (KO) output signal polarity delivers the logarithmic value of the input voltage (Ue) starting from the first comparison result as the leading bit of a binary signal.
