The conductor system employs gps. of vertical bars carrying current upwards to the anodes in a row of cells; and the gps. of bars are located in the spaces between the ends of adjacent cells. The vertical conductor bars in each gp. are pref. in a common vertical plane and the system is intended for the operation of a row of cells using currents of 100,000 amps. or more. The spatial arrangement of the conductor bars reduces the harmful effects of the associated magnetic fields on the electrolytic mfr. of aluminium.
