The soil working tool has a self-sharpening cutting edge. A cutting strip(6) is formed on the back of the tool, and a hard metal layer (4) is welded onto this. There is also a hard metal layer on the front edge of the tool, below which is an austenitic base layer. The cutting angle of the cutting strip is less than 8 deg. and the thickness of the hard metal layer on the cutting strip is 0.5 to 1.2 mm. Its wear factor E is 0.15 to 0.2 relative to the base material.
