In a quantitative analysis of the foreign gas or vapour content in a gas mixt., a jet of the mixt. is accelerated to supersonic velocity. The compression shock is varied in intensity and in its position along the nozzle axis; the desired content is determined from this. This has a greater measuring sensitivity than other known methods and requires only simple and functionally elements for its execution.
