Dryer for coal sludge using flame-drying in a rotary drum drying kiln (1) with flame gas pipes (2) which are arranged rigidly in the longitudinal direction of the kiln and to which, for reasons of energy conservation, only so much heat is supplied that the heating gases are at approximately ambient temperature at the delivery end of the kiln. No dust particles are pulled along, so that a dust-removal installation for the heating gases is not needed. IMAGE
