New baited traps for combatting flies which are troublesome to humans consists of (a) a chamber with an internal vol. of 200-2000 cm3 and (b) a bait, located inside the chamber, contg. a food which is attractive to the insects to be exterminated and an insecticide substance and/or an adhesive ("birdlime"). The chamber is closed on all sides except its upper side, where one to four lengthwise openings are located, their area being 2-15% of the total external area of the chamber. Traps are simpler, smaller and more economical than known traps, but are equally effective.
