The memory unit is of the type where a digital word comprises a constant number of bit-groups in each memory-cycle and has in-and out- reading of equivalent addresses with a corresponding number of memory modules. the control circuit takes note of the different address positions. Matrix elements are defined for picture points of an image matrix of the form I (i,j), memory position codes of the form A (i,j) and modules of the form M(i,j) related by equations such as A(i,j) = (i/p)s + j/q and M(I, j) = (iq + 1/p I/q + j) //pq where p,q,s etc, are logical operators and the slash symbols / and // represent matrix quotient formers, involving the entire matrix.
