PURPOSE:To purify contaminated water in creek and rivers in such a way that by making use of embankment structure itself, contaminated water is brought into contact with natural soil and gravel in the bank of rivers etc. so as to have the contaminated water purified by positively putting in practical use of purificatory action of microbes living in the ground, or else, by feeding the microbes to the contaminated water in the rivers etc. through the embankment structure. CONSTITUTION:Back-up gravel 4 is stuffed into a space enclosed by a net 6 on rear side of steeply piled up embankment structure 3 which permits water to permeate therethrough. Accordingly, contaminated water in river etc. will permeate through the structure 3 and back-up gravel 4 into natural soil 5 where microbes lives so that contaminated water may be purified by microbes in the soil 5 and by microbes from out of embankment structure 3 into river stream.
