The portable tool-box has a side-hung pivoting lid (3) and contains a fold away tool-deck of three inter-articulating leaves. The prim. leaf (4) pivots about a long edge with the hinges (7) set nominally below those of the lid (3) and is of a similar size to the floor. The sec leaves (12) pivot about the short edges of the prim leaf (4) and their width is less than half that of the latter. Tools may be secured to the deck by stud-clips (10) etc in perforations (9), and when fully extended the leaves (4 12) form vertical extensions of the back and the two side walls of the box (2). For retraction the sec. leaves (12) pivot onto the rear face of the prim. leaf (4) with the tools mounted on the then external faces.
