Ion exchangers are prepd. by radical copolymerisation of mono- and divinyl aromatic cpds. in a mixt. of divinylbenzene and diisopropenylbenzene in an aq. suspension at 60-100 degrees C. The monomer mixt. contains 1-30 mole % of divinylaromatic cpds. The ion exchangers have a regular structure, high selectivity, improved permeability, a satisfactory molecular sieve effect and a satisfactory aromatic stability. The ion exchangers are used in the purificn. sepn. and concn. of substances in organic catalysis, in the formation of complexes, etc.
