The potato peeling machine has an electric motor, a container for the potatoes, from which waste water runs, and can be operated under running water, safely. The electric motor is contained in a first compartment of the housing (2), and the potato container is positioned in a second compartment (3) of the housing. Between the two compartments (2, 3) is a tunnel (4) which is open at the bottom. Each compartment has a waste water drainage hole. In that part of the housing over the tunnel (4) are drive mechanisms for the greater disc. The pivot axles for the electric motor and the greater disc are parallel. The power transmission between the motor and the greater disc is by means of cogs, or belt.
