Heat-insulating material comprises 2 plastics plies enclosing air- or other gas-layers or -bubbles which are bounded by =1 surfaces that strongly reflect in near and/or far I.R. spectrum. The boundary surfaces are suitably formed by using metallised plastics plies, forming the required gas-filled cavities with the metallised surfaces doubling as the walls of the hollow spaces. The prod. is used e.g. for mfr. of heat-insulating clothing, air-conditioning equipment, building.
