Stored material is blended in silo which consists of a combination of a mixing silo with a homogenising silo. The layers of material in the mixing silo are withdrawn via metering and flow control devices. They flow into each other as spouts and are mixed in this way. The quantities of material withdrawn from the mixing silo flow into the homogenising silo and are then blended using a fluidising technique. Only sufficient material is withdrawn from the upper silo each time as is allowed to leave the homogenising silo because this requires a certain level for effective operation, this being measured by means of a level detector. Used for blending particulate materials. System combines the advantages of continuous blending silos and homogeneous silos.
