Ink ribbon cassette containing an endless ribbon is designed esp. for typewriters and can be swivelled into different positions about a swivel axis (20) in each of which positions, movement of the ribbon is assured. The ribbon moves between a transport roller and an interacting pressure roller. The transport roller is driven by an external mechanism and the vertical axis of the roller cuts the swivel axis of the cassette. The roller has a cross-slit by way of which coupling between it and the driving mechanism is effected. When inserted in place, the cassette rests on a carrier plate against the action of a flat spring mounted at one end to the plate.
