1501525 Mixing apparatus; washing a reactor vessel RHONE - POULENC INDUSTRIES 24 May 1976 [28 May 1975] 21459/76 Headings B1C and S1X A reactor vessel having a rotary agitator extending axially of the vessel and rotatable over the axis of the vessel and passing close to its walls is cleaned by a jet of pressurised liquid directed from an oscillating nozzle from near and outside the external face of the surface of revolution over which the agitator sweeps. As shown the nozzle 1 is situated in a neck 31 of a reactor vessel 30 and is oscillated preferably through an arc of 30‹-170‹ by a motor 8 and crank mechanism. The reactor may have more than one neck 31, each designed to receive a cleaning apparatus; when cleaning is completed the apparatus may be withdrawn and the neck sealed.
