The apparatus is used to evaluate the relationship between waxed surfaces of skis and the frictional losses when moving over various types of snow at adjustable inflincations. It comprises a long frame centrally mounted on a stand by an adjustable pivot. The frame contains a slide, filled with snow and refrigerated. A carriage runs along the slide, a test surface contacting the snow and supported on low friction rollers. The test is made by waxing the contact surface of the test carriage and moving it along the slide by a power cylinder, the frictional power absorbed being measured.
