Method for mfg. plastic hoods, such as womens' rain hood from a continuous tube. An inward pleat is first made at each side of the tube, which is then reeled up flat with the pleats at the outer borders. The pleated tube is unrolled and welded across at intervals (the weld imitating the appearance of stitching) and is thus divided into a succession of rectangles which are sepd., formed into a pile (of perhaps 100) and cut simultaneously to provide openings for the wearer's face and neck while leaving lengths to tie under the chin. Cheap method for the bulk prodn. of plastic hoods.
