The adaptor is designed for reading the magnetic strip on a cine film (2) during the passage of the film through a viewer fitted with a driving motor. The adapter consists of an housing containing a reading head (8), together with an electronic amplifying circuit and a loudspeaker. The housing also encloses batteries for supplying the amplifier circuit. The housing has also mechanical means which enable it to be adapted to the film path in the viewer without modification to either the viewer or the film path. The mechanical adaptor means are such that the reading head (8) is situated between the guiding or driving rollers (4,5) so as aid in tensioning and lateral guidance of the film (2).
