The switching circuit is for high level currents based on a relay driven from a solid state amplifier fed from some sensing device. The circuit is particularly intended for use in controlling domestic electric radiators which are brought into and out of operation by local temperature variations. The design is intended to protect the transistors from the effects of high level transients in the coil winding and to minimise the generation of high frequency harmonics. The circuit, deriving the power from the radiator supply, is controlled from a negative temperature coefficient resistance (11), this controls a multivibrator (13, 18) switching in or out of circuit a triac (20) in series with the relay coil.
