The analytical method is used specifically for reducing the noise of asynchronous motors, such as those used with ventilation systems, and it details the magnetoon-motive force, the air-gap permeance and force frequencies so that the number of rotor slots may be optimised for minimum harmonic disturbance of the forces. It accounts for the unbalancing forces due to the non-sinusoidal waveforms produced by the stator coils rotating at different speeds to the fundamental magneto-motive force frequency. This method improves upon previous systems where the air-gap was modified to attenuate the harmonic fields but where the magnetization current had to be increased thus reducing the efficiency.
