Reduction of mains borne interference from rectifiers - using and stop filter consisting of capacitors, chokes and resistors connected to rectifier input to reduce current harmonics
Interference coupled into communications equipment by mains conductors feeding rectifiers is reduced by filter circuits at the inputs to the rectifiers. A combination of capacitors (7), chokes (5, 8) and resistors (6, 9) is connected in parallel to the rectifier (2) input terminals. If a minimum (2) inductance remains effective, a wide band loss trap circuit is produced specifically tuned to harmonics of the current through the rectifier. A resistor (9) in series with an inductor (8) may be connected across one of the chokes (8) to provide protection against transient mains voltage peaks.
