摘要
Automatic, continuous, quantitative determination of halogen - carbon compds. present in gases consists of heating a specified quantity of this gas in the presence of steam to a temp. between 300 and 600 degrees C. The halogen acid so formed is then washed out with a defined quantity of water. The ionic concentration so obtd. is then a measure of the initial halogen-carbon compd. The gas stream is passed along the space between a transfer pipe and an outer sheath. A Pt wire is coiled around the transfer pipe and acts both as a heating coil and a catalyst. The average temp. of the gas mixture is held at between 550 and 650 degrees C. The element is held at a temp. of at least 700 degrees C (pref. ca 750 degrees C). Provides method for analysing quantitatively for vinyl chloride or other halogen compds.
