The tube testing press has hydraulic or mechanical drives to bring a sealing plate up against the tube end and to hold it there during the pressure test. The sealed tube is filled with a liquid test medium and the internal pressure is built up, indicated and monitored. Traction elements form a closed oval ring armature consisting of a straight longitudinal section parallel to the tube sides and a curved head section. On the inside of the two head sections there is a pressure-tight support which forms the abutments for the transporting and holding drives and for the sealing plates.
