The girder espec. of span more than 15m. (1) comprises a concrete slab (10) as upper chord, and one or more steel flanges (22) as lower chord, with an interconnecting stem (23) on a double-T steel girder (20). The top flange (21) of the latter is severely reduced compared with the flange forming the lower chord, its dimensions being solely adequate for introduction of the stem forces. The concrete slab is designed as a self-supporting form element between adjoining girders (1, 2, 3) in the bridge. It is pref. wider than the girder's stem height. While weight is kept moderate for transport, it is still possible to dispense with elaborate formwork, and adequate torsion resistance is provided.
